The marquise sits horizontally, its points facing outward across the finger rather than up the hand. A single row of round pavé stones curves around one side of it, forming a partial halo that follows the lower arc of the stone. The opposite arm of the band sweeps past without stones, leaving a gap between the two. That open space between the plain band and the pavé curve is what gives the ring its bypass character. The combination of the sideways-set marquise and the asymmetric pavé frame makes the ring read differently depending on the angle. Front-on, it looks like a swirl. From the side, the bypass gap becomes the focal detail.
The horizontal marquise widens the visual footprint across the finger. It suits longer fingers particularly well, where that lateral spread has room to sit comfortably.
